A simple clock for India

How it works

The clock runs in your browser, using your device time and time zone settings. India’s display uses the Asia/Kolkata time zone. Each tick reads the device clock again. Returning to the page also updates the display.

We do not check your device against an external time server. For time-critical work, verify your device’s clock and use an appropriate synchronized time source.

If the browser cannot read your time or time zone, the page shows an error instead of leaving an old time on screen. Check your device settings, then use “Try again”. If the live clock does not load at all, allow JavaScript and reload the page.

Privacy and storage

Your device time and detected time zone are processed in your browser. The clock does not request your location or send its displayed time, detected time zone, or format preference to a server.

The only preference stored by the site is your 12/24-hour choice, in this browser’s local storage. The clock still works when storage is blocked. You can remove that preference by clearing this site’s browser data.

This version uses Cloudflare Web Analytics only on indiatimenow.com to measure page views, referring sites and loading performance. The analytics beacon sends page and referrer URLs and browser performance measurements to Cloudflare; it does not use cookies or collect the clock’s format choice. Page views are not a count of completed time checks. Blocking analytics does not stop the clock.

Optional comparison measurement

The checkbox under the comparison tool is off by default. If you turn it on, this tab sends comparison starts, completed snapshots, failures and successful copies to our own Cloudflare endpoint. Events contain a site/page label, action, broad duration and error category, test flag, and a random ID for that comparison. The ID stays in tab memory and expires after 30 minutes; it is not a visitor ID. We do not send either clock value, your time zone, your copied text, or page/referrer URLs in these optional events.

Turning the checkbox off stops new event requests; requests already sent cannot be recalled. Reloading resets the choice. Automatic ticking, changing the time format and simply viewing the clock are not counted as completed comparisons. Blocking measurement does not stop comparison or copying.

Event storage is separate from the page-view service above. Raw events are scheduled for daily removal once more than 24 hours old; anonymous daily totals are scheduled for removal after 90 days. Until scheduled cleanup has been observed, these are configured retention targets. Recovery backups can retain deleted data for another 7 days. Our collector has no application request logs or public read endpoint. Cloudflare still processes connection information such as IP addresses and browser headers to deliver and secure the service, under its own policies.

Ads are not enabled, and there is no account system. A public AdSense account tag and ads.txt file identify the publisher for site verification; they do not load advertising scripts. Cloudflare also hosts the site and receives normal web requests, which include information such as your IP address and browser headers. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
